With the arrival of spring, World Color Day returns again this year, inviting us to reflect and work with renewed optimism in organizing the 14th AIC congress to be held in Milan. Having now set aside the hope of being able to celebrate it in person, we are working to create the necessary connections with the new technologies available to maintain the feeling of community around the interest in color.
We will welcome new speakers and organize some virtual tours that, while sitting comfortably in front of the computer, will offer the opportunity to get to know Milan, which in addition to its historic center offers different and interesting perspectives.
We are announcing the sixth special session: ”LIGHT BEYOND COLOURS: THE NC-CIE ITALY”. Many of the topics covered in the AIC Conference are shared with the CIE Division 1 (Vision and Colour) and Division 8 (Digital Imaging).
Researchers and expert of lighting, operating in all the divisions of the NC-CIE Italy and also in other CIE NCs are invited to present the most relevant and up to date researches and activities carried out within the wider CIE-umbrella. We are aware that fruitful discussions about the CIE’s most recent arguments will promote connections among the different divisions and will encourage the proposal of new research strategies. Contributions that address this topic are welcome.
The fifth invited speaker of the eight that have already been scheduled is from Milan and our Gruppo del Colore – Associazione Italiana Colore member. We are honored to present Francesca Valan as one of the invited speakers of the 14th AIC Congress in Milan. She is an industrial designer specialized in the design of colors, materials and finishes (CMF Design). Francesca Valan has defined the Guidelines for the color plan of the city of Milan.
She deals in particular with the world of children organizing training courses for schools and educational activities in art exhibitions, and designing the color of games and spaces for children. She will deliver a talk on “Color in industrial design”, which will present some examples aimed at showing how this activity not only gives a product the most suitable color, but also defines and reinforces the Brand Identity A short video by Francesca Valan dealing with its coming talk is available at link.
