AIC Study Groups
Four AIC Study Groups have been proposed for the 14th AIC Congress (link). A brief introduction is reported below.

Chaired by Maria João Durão, this Study Group encourages all color contemporary art and design expressions, as well as any other historic era. It includes several disciplines with three main objectives in which the rst deals with the creation of a network between artists and designers.
This Study Group is chaired by Robert Hirschler and Maggie Maggio and put together teachers within the eld of color and other professionals with a speci c interest in color education. This 2021 event will present discussion on new approaches to learning about color in the 21st century.
Environmental Color Design.
Yulia A. Griber and Verena M. Schindler chair the Study Group that is focused around a speci c interest in color as a means of environmental design in interior and exterior space. The study group’s activities and events have opened up exchanges between experts working in diverse countries around the world.
On the Language of Color.
For the chairs of this Study Group, Dimitris Mylonas and Galina Paramei, participants have to share information and discuss their experiences on psycholinguistics, semantics and semiotics of color names and their relation to cognitive (neuro) science of color perception. It will be a great opportunity meeting at AIC 2021 in Milan.
Since the early years of cinema, color has been a powerful means for expressing mood, creating meaning, reflecting social and cultural customs, or setting the aesthetic tone of a film. Oftentimes, color in film is so important as to become a character in and of itself. In this special session, we will explore the multifaceted role that color has played in cinema since its inception, in order to map out new trends and theories on the subject with an interdisciplinary approach.
We welcome submissions from different perspectives and backgrounds, investigating the full spectrum of the relationship between color and cinema.
It is a huge honor for us to have Luca Missoni as invited speaker at the 14th AIC Congress in Milan. He is the Artistic Director of the Missoni Archive that he has been developing into a communication and research tool to valorize the Brand Heritage. By the end of the 1970s, he began working full time for the family company developing knitwear design, sparking interactions between technical advancements and the creative process. He is also a photographer and a stargazer. For Luca Missoni photography has always been an essential part of his visual research. His talk will be on ‘Color in Fashion Design’ A short video by Luca Missoni dealing with the importance of color in the family company is available at link.
To date, four AIC National Groups and two Italian Associations have decided to patronage the 14th AIC Congress (link). We are honored to welcome the international colleagues from Brazil (Associação Procor do Brasil), Finland (Suomen Väriyhdistys Svyry), Japan
(Color Science Association of Japan) and United States of America (Inter-Society Color Council) for their prompt reply in giving their patronage. At the same time, we are greatful to the Associazione Italiana di Illuminazione (AIDI) and Associazione Italiana per la ricerca in Computer Vision (CVPL) that immediately after our request decided to give their patronage to the 14th AIC Congress.
